Sylvan Lake library turfs overdue fines

Sylvan Lake Municipal Library has eliminated all overdue fines for library materials, effective immediately.

All existing overdue fines are forgiven, except for lost or damaged materials.

“We want to encourage people who may be hesitant to use the library because of financial barriers to take advantage of everything we have to offer,” says Andrea Newland, Library Director at Sylvan Lake Municipal Library.

Library patrons are encouraged to donate to the library when they are able, instead of paying overdue fines.
