Active COVID-19 cases up slightly in Central Zone and across province

Alberta is reporting 114 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

That brings the total number of cases in the province as of Sept. 1 to 14,180.

The number of active cases in Alberta now sits at 1,403 – an increase of five.

Recoveries are listed at 12,535, which is 108 more than the previous report from Alberta Health.

There remains 50 Albertans in hospital because of the virus, which includes nine people who are in intensive care – down one from Tuesday’s report.

Alberta completed 8,296 tests for COVID-19 on Monday.

One more death has also been reported to bring the province’s death toll from the novel coronavirus to 242.

In the Central Zone, the number of active cases of COVID-19 has increased by five to 32.

Red Deer gained three additional active cases of COVID-19 – bringing the current total to 10, including three in the north, one in the southwest, and six in the east part of the city. 76 Red Deerians have recovered.

  • Kneehill County: 0 active, 18 recovered, 2 deaths
  • Town and County of Stettler: 0 active, 44 recovered
  • Rocky Mountain House: 0 active, 3 recovered
  • Town of Ponoka: 0 active, 7 recovered
  • Town of Sundre: 0 active, 1 recovered
  • Town of Didsbury: 1 active (up one), 8 recovered
