10-year-old girl dies in crash near Jasper
A collision near Jasper National Park has claimed the life of a young girl.
Hinton RCMP say the fatal crash happened at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 16, about 10 kilometres east of the entrance to the park.
Police believe a westbound pick-up truck crossed the centre line and collided with an eastbound SUV carrying seven people. One of them, a 10-year-old girl, died at the scene.
Six others aged 13, 14, 16, 19, 44 and 56-years-old, all from Edmonton, suffered injuries that Mounties say are not believed to be life threatening.
