Conservative party to announce new leader August 23
OTTAWA, ON – The Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) has confirmed Sunday, August 23, will be the date the results of the leadership election will be announced, and a new leader elected.
With ballots due on Friday, August 21, the party will take Saturday and Sunday to process and count ballots, before formally announcing the winner of the leadership election Sunday evening in Ottawa.
“Our Leadership Election Organizing Committee is excited to be able to finally announce the Conservative Party’s next leader, and we want to thank all the candidates for their hard work over the past eight months to get here,” said Dan Nowlan, co-chair of the Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC).
269,469 party members have received ballots to vote.
