McDonald’s reopening for take-out nationwide following successful trial run

Jul 9, 2020 | 4:12 PM

McDonald’s is beginning to welcome patrons back into its restaurants nationwide.

The full reopening comes after the chain successfully reintroduced take-out at 30 test locations across Canada.

Maintaining health and safety is paramount, the company says, with added safeguards being implemented in every location.

“As maintaining the health and well-being of our crew and guests is our top priority, we will continue to monitor and adapt measures, where necessary,” a release states. “Adding to existing high standards of cleanliness, restaurants welcoming guests will demonstrate our Safety+ commitment, which includes enhanced safety and wellness measures to ensure every part of the McDonald’s experience is safe for our guests and employees.”

Changes customers will notice include:

– Hand sanitizer dispensers available inside restaurants

– Floor markers to help everyone keep their distance

– Front counters fitted with protective screens

– Contactless payment options are available at the restaurant, and guests can also order using the McDonald’s mobile app and pay on their phone

– Frequent sanitization of all high-contact surfaces and guest tables

– Clearly marked/designated select tables for dine-in to respect physical distancing.

– Limited guest numbers inside based on restaurant size. This also applies to outdoor seating space.

One of the 30 Canadian test locations was in Red Deer, at the McDonald’s on Golden West Avenue.
