City council holds shortened meeting, COVID-19 updates to be shared nightly
Red Deer city council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday at City Hall.
Most items on the agenda were withdrawn for consideration at a later date due to the spread of COVID-19.
Councillors Tanya Handley, Michael Dawe, Lawrence Lee and Frank Wong attended in-person for the meeting, while Buck Buchanan, Ken Johnston, Vesna Higham and Dianne Wyntjes phoned in. Mayor Tara Veer missed the meeting while finishing up a phone call with the premier.
On Monday morning, the City of Red Deer declared a state of local emergency.
