SLOW START TO SPRING

The Weather Network’s 2020 Spring Forecast

Feb 26, 2020 | 7:16 AM

OAKVILLE, ON.- Most Canadians experienced a mild winter that lacked consistent cold weather.

Does that mean we can look forward to an early spring?

According to The Weather Network’s Spring Forecast for the months of March, April and May, most Canadians will have to be patient as we wait for the arrival of consistent warm weather.

In fact, Chris Scott, the chief meteorologist at the Weather Network, says the long-range seasonal outlook suggests spring will be “slow to bloom” from coast-to-coast.

He adds, groundhogs may not be the best forecasters, when it comes to seasonal predictions as two out of three of the traditional, furry, forecasters got it wrong when proclaiming an early spring.

For Alberta, the temperature outlook calls for above normal temperatures for the west and south and near normal highs for eastern areas.

Precipitation levels are forecast to be near normal throughout the province.

Snowstorms are possible through parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba during the early spring.

Wet, changeable weather is in store for Ontario and Quebec, while most of Atlantic Canada should see swings between high and low temperatures as well as above-average overall precipitation.
