Penhold Firefighers were honoured at this week’s town council meeting.

Warren Kitteringham was recognized for doing ongoing repairs and maintenance on the Fire Hall and equipment.

Kitteringham, who is the fire department’s safety coordinator, helped instruct courses, arranged and conducted several practice nights. He spent several weeks assisting at the High Level fires last spring.

Fire Captain Shawn Flight was selected by the Penhold firefighters as the 2019 Officer of the Year.

Flight has been a member of the Penhold Fire Department for past eight years. Town officials highlight that he assists with training on practice nights and teaches a number of courses and is instrumental in keeping the vehicles well maintained and always ready to assist.

Flight also assisted in the High Level fire this past spring and was part of the team that researched and put into service the Town’s new rescue unit.

Additional recognition awards were given out to the members who assisted at the High Level fire in the Spring of 2019, including Chief Jim Pendergast, Deputy Fire Chief Sean Pendergast, Victor Tam, Dayna Starecki, Bailey McKay, Jason Lafournie, Quinlan Parsons, Clayton Rafuse and Ryan Clarke.
