Salaries frozen for exempt city staff
There will be no salary increase this year for the approximately 157 exempt employees working for The City of Red Deer.
City Council voted unanimously at their meeting on Tuesday that there would be no cost of living adjustment for the group that includes directors, managers, superintendents, supervisors, professionals and specialists.
“The decision to not provide an annual wage adjustment to exempt staff was made in an effort to ensure we are being highly sensitive to our local economic context and financially responsible,” said Mayor Tara Veer. “Right now, financial sustainability is a priority for The City, and while staff are one of our greatest assets, the continuing provincial and local economic context have necessitated this financial response to our new economic normal.”
