Son accused of killing father appears in court

A Sylvan Lake man accused of killing his father made a brief court appearance on Friday.

Patrick William Freeman appeared in Rimbey provincial court via CCTV from the Red Deer Remand Centre where he remains in custody.

The case was put over to September 6.

The 28-year-old stands charged with first-degree murder in the June 24 death of his father, 52-year-old Patrick Alexander Freeman.

RCMP responded at about 4 p.m. to a complaint in Lacombe County. Upon arrival, officers found the elder Freeman suffering from “significant injuries.” He was airlifted by STARS to a Calgary hospital but later died.
