Winner crowned at 106th Women’s Amateur Championships at Red Deer Golf & Country Club
Brianna Navarrosa of San Diego is the 106th Canadian Women’s Amateur champion.
The 17-year-old won the title Friday at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club with a final round score of four-under. She was 10-under over the tournament and trailed by four strokes headed into the final day.
With the win, Navarrosa earns exemptions into the 2019 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship August 5-11 at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss., and the 2019 CP Women’s Open at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont. from August 19-25.
“Going into today I was really hoping just to get a top three and stay consistent throughout the whole day,” said Navarrosa. “Of course I wanted to win. I wasn’t nervous going into the back nine, I was hyped to sink some putts. This will be my first LPGA event. I just want to have a good experience. If things don’t work out well, it’s ok. Just being there is an honour.”
