Severe storms possible today for Red Deer area

There is a severe threat of thunderstorms in central Alberta today, including Red Deer, according to Environment Canada.

As of 9:20 a.m. there are no weather watches or warnings in effect for the region. Environment Canada says storms are expected to form late in the afternoon.

The forecast for Red Deer for Wednesday calls for a mix of sun and cloud with 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms later this afternoon, wind becoming west 20 km/h gusting to 40 early this afternoon with a high of 22.

Environment Canada says severe weather is also possible today for the Lloydminster area.
