Red Deer RCMP launch new security camera registry
Red Deer RCMP has launched CAPTURE (Community Assisted Policing Through the use of Recorded Evidence), a new security camera registry.
Mounties say the voluntary registry will record the location of security cameras owned by businesses and residents in Red Deer to assist in police investigations.
“Implementing a camera registry was identified in Red Deer’s current Annual Policing Plan as an initiative to prevent and reduce property crime,” said S/Sgt. Jay Peden, Acting Operations Support Officer of the Red Deer detachment. “CAPTURE gives our members another resource to assist in their investigations, and could reduce the time, effort and cost of our investigations.”
