Motorcyclist dead after highway crash near Penhold

A 31-year-old man from Red Deer has died following a two-vehicle collision south of the city on Friday afternoon.
Innisfail RCMP say it was around 1:30 at the QEII/Hwy 42 overpass by Penhold. An eastbound motorcycle struck a westbound pickup truck and camper trailer that was turning south onto the main highway.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the pickup was not injured.
Innisfail detachment and a collision analyst continue to investigate. Hwy 42 was closed for about two and a half hours, but has since been cleared.
