A local netminder has been invited to show his skills in front of Hockey Canada brass this week in Calgary.

Tees native Drew Sim will go between the pipes at Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence goaltending camp at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park from June 5-8.

The camp serves as the initial evaluation stage for summer development and selections camps for Canada’s national teams.

Sim, 16, played the 2018-19 season with Delta Hockey Academy (CSSHL) where he posted a 3.78 goals-against average and .885 save percentage in the regular season (2.88 and .925 in the playoffs).

The 6’2” netminder was selected in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft by the Vancouver Giants (third round, 46th overall).

In all, the Program of Excellence goaltending camp has invited 26 male goaltenders, including 10 at the under-20 level, four at the under-18 level and 12 in the under-17 category.

On the National Women’s Program side, 20 goaltenders will gather for this week’s camp.
