Amber Alert cancelled after three kids and mom found near Sylvan Lake

Jun 1, 2019 | 5:20 AM

An Amber Alert for three kids believed to have been abducted from their home in Fox Creek was cancelled Saturday morning after police discovered the trio and their mother near Sylvan Lake.

Alberta RCMP say at approximately 1:30 a.m., a four-year-old, three-year-old, and nine-month-old were taken from their home.

The Amber Alert was issued just before 5 a.m, and cancelled at 7:40 a.m. when Sylvan Lake RCMP attended to a vehicle on the roadside of Hwy 20 north of town where the mother and three kids were located.

The children were unharmed, but were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Charmaine Darnel, the kids’ mother, remains in police custody and is facing charges pending further investigation.

“Amber Alerts are used by police to engage the public in locating an abducted child (or adult with a proven mental or physical disability) who is at risk of harm,” says Alberta RCMP in a release.

“The Alberta RCMP would like to thank the member of the public for alerting police after they received the Amber Alert that led to a swift resolution to this morning’s incident.”
