Red Deer Emergency Services investigating fire at apartment building on 49 Avenue

Red Deer Emergency Services are investigating the cause of a structure fire that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Crews responded to a structure fire at a three-storey apartment building located at the 3400 block of 49 Avenue at 3:37 a.m.

This included four engines, a ladder, a platoon chief, an ambulance, an EMS supervisor, and a duty chief who responded.

On arrival, they found the exterior of the building on fire and that the blaze spread to a mechanical room on the first floor. Mechanical and electrical equipment were damaged, but crews were able to get the fire under control so it didn’t spread to residential units.
