May 22, 2019 | 1:33 PM

City Mounties are investigating a crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon involving a Red Deer Emergency Services fire engine.

The two-vehicle crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of 32 Street and 30 Avenue.

Tyler Pelke, Deputy Chief of Operations with Red Deer Emergency Services says the fire engine was responding to another incident when it struck a mid-size car in the intersection.

“There was one person in that vehicle. Crews attended to that person and they were transported as a precaution to Red Deer Regional Hospital in stable condition.”

Four firefighters on board the fire engine were not injured.

Pelke says the emergency lights and siren on the fire engine were on when the crash occurred.

Northbound traffic on 30 Avenue and westbound traffic on 32 Street, along with one westbound lane of 32 Street, was closed for over an hour as a result of the crash.
