RCMP seeking suspect in alleged assault near Central Middle School

Red Deer RCMP are asking for help in identifying the suspect in an alleged assault.

Mounties say the incident took place around 12:30 p.m. on Friday in the area of Central Middle School.

Reportedly, a man assaulted a female and then attempted to steal her car. The woman was not injured.

RCMP conducted patrols, but did not locate the male. The investigation continues and police say they are working closely alongside Red Deer Public Schools.

There is no risk to the public at this time.

In a letter to parents, school principal Darrin DeMale states, “No students were in the area at the time or impacted. Teaching and learning continued as normal.”

The suspect is described as:

· Indigenous
· Approximately late teens
· 5’10
· Short dark hair
· Brown eyes
· Wearing black hoody with black emblem
