Alberta’s Austin Cole breaks U Sports record in men’s 300-metre event
WINDSOR, Ont. — Alberta’s Austin Cole broke a U Sports record that had stood for nearly two decades on Friday, winning the men’s 300-metre event in a time of 33.37.
That beat the previous mark of 33.40 that had stood for 19 years at the national athletics championship.
After two days of competition, the Guelph Gryphons lead in the overall point totals in both the men’s and women’s events.
Sarah Hammond and Kendra Leger gave the Gryphons a huge boost by placing first and second in the women’s 60-metre hurdles with times of 8.2 and 8.3 seconds, respectively.
