Windsor made its way into second place after Kelsey Balkwill won gold in the 300-metre race in 38.46 seconds. In the field, shot put favourite Sarah Mitton came first with a toss of 15.09 metres, before Rachael Wolfs captured gold in the pole vault, clearing 4.15 metres.

On the men’s side, Thomas Land won gold in the 1,000-metre race, with Andrew LeBlanc coming in third to give the Gryphons two podium finishes in the event. Land finished in 2:27.98 and LeBlanc ran it in 2:28.66.

Guelph was helped further by Sean Cate’s finish in the men’s high jump in which he tied for second with Manitoba’s Oyinkansola Akinola with a leap of 2.13 metres.

The Laval Rouge et Or finished the day in second place. Nicolas Morin gave the Rouge et Or a huge boost with his second-place finish in the 1,000 metres, finishing the race in 2:28.10, while Peter Nsaka-Malonge came third in the heptathlon with 4,976 points.

The Gryphons have 76 points, the Rouge et Or are at 37 while the Varsity Blues are also sitting in third place in men’s competition heading into Saturday with 30 points.
