Trial booked for man charged in Anders shooting

Trial has been scheduled for a man charged in a shooting in the Anders neighbourhood last fall that sent a 23-year-old man to hospital.

The incident took place during the noon hour on Sept. 12, 2017 when the victim was shot after interrupting a break in at a home on Asmundsen Avenue.

Police say the assailant was carrying a short-barrel small calibre firearm and a machete at the time of the incident. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back and a number of cuts during a struggle with the suspect.

Darren Curtis Lagrelle, 21, faces charges of aggravated assault, uttering threats, robbery with weapon, and breaking and entering.
