Edmonton man sentenced for 2014 murder of estranged wife

EDMONTON – An Edmonton man the Crown wanted jailed for at least 21 years for second-degree murder has instead been ordered to spend at least 13 years behind bars before parole eligibility.
Gilbert Robinson, 62, was sentenced Thursday after his conviction in January for the April 2014 beating of his estranged wife, Gina Robinson.
Several victim impact statements were submitted during two days of hearings this week.
On Wednesday, Crown prosecutor Domina Hussain told court the beating was brutal.
