Tools for School in need of backpacks
As thousands of central Alberta students prepare to return to class for another school year, the demand to help those in need of school supplies continues.
Darcy Ouellet, Fund Development Officer with Women’s Outreach which runs the Tools for School program in partnership with the United Way of Central Alberta, says their current stock of donated supplies fluctuates by the day.
“We’ve kind of gone up, we’ve kind of gone down,” he explains. “We’re packing backpacks on a daily basis at this time so whatever donations come in, we get them packed and by the end of the day we’re kind of back to where we were when the day started. We’re holding our own but it’s a little stressful.”
He says backpacks are currently their biggest need.
