Local municipalities challenged to sign water quality protection charter
A group concerned about source water quality protection is urging municipalities along the Red Deer River to take action.
The Red Deer River Municipal Users Group (RDRMUG) recently distributed a blank charter to its 30-plus member municipalities and several others which take water from the Red Deer River.
It calls for those communities to determine up to three new endeavours related to source water quality protection and enact them by August 2020.
“This means to really hit home that source water isn’t the water that comes out of our tap. It’s the water that’s out of the Red Deer River and its tributaries,” says Executive Director Keith Ryder.
