Calgary Police Chief Roger Chaffin calling it quits

CALGARY- Police Chief Roger Chaffin has announced he will be retiring in January — three years after he took the job.

Chaffin says he wanted to modernize the force and he knows it’s now on a path of accountability and integrity.

He has had to respond to a number of issues during his tenure as chief, including an increase in gun violence and allegations of toxicity and harassment within the service.

Chaffin says his decision to leave is not based on any particular event or issue.
