St. Joseph High School receives social media threat

Nov 16, 2018 | 1:59 PM

No charges are pending after students are alleged to have made a threat via social media at St. Joseph High School on Friday.

Specific details of what the threat was are unavailable at this time.

However, the school did issue a letter to parents explaining that the threat was made and that the school was put into an ‘On Alert’ while RCMP could be notified.

All students are safe, says the letter, which is signed by Principal Graeme Daniel.

“As a school community, we know news of this nature affects people in different ways,” it goes on. “We ask you to take extra care in observing your child over the next few days. Should your child exhibit signs of stress or anxiety, please contact our school counsellors.”

Meanwhile, RCMP can confirm the situation is over and there is no threat to public safety, including to students at the school.

Members are meeting now with the students involved and continue to investigate.
