Calgarian dies of influenza, first in Alberta this season

Alberta has recorded its first flu-related death this season.

Numbers released by Alberta Health Services on Thursday show one person in the Calgary Zone died this week from a lab-confirmed case of influenza.

So far this season, 1,424 Albertans have caught influenza with 290 being admitted to hospital.

In the Central Zone, 77 people have caught the flu with 17 of them spending time in hospital.
