“I asked him ‘What are you doing?’ and I turned and also started to go for my car,” she explains. “I ran towards my car but he also ran towards my car. Then he pulled out a gun, which is why he was holding his arm funny and he pointed the gun at me and said ‘Don’t effing do it’, so I stopped and said ‘K, fine, just take it’”.

However, as the suspect was getting into her vehicle, Jennifer says he asked her if she had any kids in the vehicle or if she needed anything out of it before he left.

“I said yes, my phone and he actually gave me my phone and my purse and my lunch bag,” she exclaims. “Then he apologized for stealing my car.”

With a gun pointed at her, Jennifer admits her only thought was to just let him take the car.

“I’m just glad that if he had a gun, he wasn’t getting on the school bus with children,” states Jennifer. “As soon as he gave me my phone and purse, I started walking back towards Springbrook and I phoned 9-1-1. But I realized when he gave me my purse, he also gave me the key fob for my vehicle, so while the vehicle was running, once he turns it off, he won’t be able to start it again.”

While walking back towards Springbrook, Jennifer says another driver pulled up to her and offered to help.

“I asked her if she could just stay with me as I was walking back or at least until the police came”, explains Jennifer. ”So she did, she drove at a crawl with me. She asked if I wanted to get in the car and I said ‘No’ cause I was scared but she just stayed with me the whole time, she was amazing.”

Even though she was car-jacked at gunpoint, Jennifer says she’s still looking at the fact the suspect apologized.

“He still gave me all my stuff and I don’t think he’s a bad person,” says Jennifer. “I think he’s in a really bad place in his life and he just made bad decisions. If I see another accident I might think twice about stopping but I mean it was a school bus with kids, who doesn’t stop for that?”

Jennifer’s vehicle is a silver 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander with decals on it and Alberta license plate BNR6558.
