Drumheller RCMP officer dragged by vehicle, shots fired

DRUMHELLER- RCMP in Dumheller are investigating after an officer was dragged by a vehicle while trying to make an arrest, resulting in him firing his weapon.

According to a news release, an officer was attempting to arrest a male driver of a stolen vehicle near Morrin at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. During the arrest, an altercation occurred.

During the altercation, a silver car driven by a woman showed up, with the male suspect jumping into the vehicle. The officer attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle, and was dragged by the car.

While being dragged, the officer discharged his firearm at the vehicle, and was able to break free while the car fled the area.
