Calgary man dies after being hit by semi near Crossfield

A Calgary man was killed Thursday morning when he was struck by a semi on the QE II Highway near Crossfield.

The collision happened after 10:30 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the highway, north of the Highway 72 overpass.

RCMP collision analysts say the 46-year-old man had pulled over and exited his vehicle when he entered the driving lane on foot.

Despite the efforts of the semi driver to avoid a collision, the man was struck and killed by the semi.
