Red Deer’s Brock England to play in CHL USA Prospects Challenge

Red Deer’s Brock England will suit up in the upcoming 2026 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) USA Prospects Challenge.

On Wednesday, he, alongside three other players, including Dima Zhilkin of the Saginaw Spirit, Alexis Joseph of the Saint John Sea Dogs, and Carter Meyer of the Québec Remparts were the first four players to be selected for the Team CHL roster.

The third annual event features the top players eligible for the 2027 NHL Draft who will face off in a two-game series between Team CHL and the U.S. National Under-18 Team.

The series will begin on Tuesday, December 1, at the Georges-Vézina Centre in Chicoutimi before moving to the Vidéotron Centre in Québec City on Wednesday, December 2.

“Brock England and Dima Zhilkin are two dynamic, skilled forwards who generate offence,” said Karl Stewart, Vice President and Director of NHL Central Scouting. “England is poised to have a breakout season after winning gold at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, while Zhilkin is poised to be a top scorer in the OHL.”

England, who suits up for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League, is fresh off his rookie season in the WHL, where he scored 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points in 64 games.

Selected by the Thunderbirds in the first round, 11th overall at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, England registered 17 multi-point performances during the 2025-26 season.

His 21 goals were the most by a 16-year-old Thunderbirds rookie since Patrick Marleau scored 32 in 1995–96.

Internationally, he most recently notched four goals and an assist for five points in five games at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. This was good enough for ninth most on the Canada roster.

England is set to become the 27th Thunderbird to participate in either the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game or the CHL USA Prospects Challenge.

He’s also the second player from central Alberta to take part in the showcase after Lacombe’s Daxon Rudolph represented Team CHL last season.
