Football Alberta Weekly Top-10 Rankings

Sep 14, 2026 | 4:40 PM

Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all five levels of high school football in Alberta for the 2026 season.

These rankings will come out every Sunday (except for Labour Day kickoff) from now up until November 9.

At that time, those will be the last rankings, and teams will take this rank into provincials.

The 12-a-side teams are slotted into their levels based on their estimated school size by School Sport Alberta, while the 9- and 6-a-side are one level only. Some re-sorting of 12-a-side levels will take place after the final official population numbers are recorded at the end of September.

Note: games vs. US opponents, scrimmages, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools.

UPCOMING GAME(S) OF THE WEEK:

5A #5 Ernest Manning vs. #7 Notre Dame Pride 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, Hellard Field at Shouldice Park (Calgary)

It’s been a slow start for the defending Provincial 5A Champion Ernest Manning Griffins so far this season. A tight win over the other Notre Dame in Red Deer to open their season, followed by a loss to 4A Bev Facey, they finally righted the ship against a tough Joane Cardinal Schubert team last week. This week they get the team they defeated in the Alberta Bowl last year, the Notre Dame Pride. The Pride have also had a sluggish start, dropping their first game to Vancouver College before beating Lord Beaverbrook the past week. Both of these teams have shown in the past that slow starts don’t worry them, but the clock is ticking on 2026, so it will be interesting to see who noses ahead after this one.
