Lacombe Police Service arrested a man with impaired driving following a collision over the weekend.

Police say on Aug. 15 at approximately 9:21 p.m., they responded to Blackstone Avenue after reports indicated a pickup truck was performing burnouts before losing control and hitting multiple parked vehicles.

Within a few minutes of arrival, police found a grey Dodge Ram 3500 partially on the front lawn of a home. The truck had hit a parked Nissan and two motorcycles.

No injuries were reported, but police say the driver had displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested.

Breath testing later produced readings of 180 mg% and 190 mg%—more than twice the legal limit.

“The Lacombe Police Service reminds motorists that impaired driving places everyone at risk,” LPS wrote in a media release. “If you consume alcohol or drugs, plan ahead for a safe ride. Anyone who observes a suspected impaired driver is encouraged to call 911 and provide the vehicle description, licence plate, location and direction of travel.”

The driver was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, operation with a blood-alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg%, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The driver was also issued provincial Immediate Roadside Sanctions, and the vehicle was seized.
