Heritage Day in Central Alberta

Central Albertans looking for something fun to do this August long weekend are encouraged to check out a pair of events taking place, including the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery’s annual Hootenanny on Monday, Aug. 3.

Heritage Day activities run from 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the MAG in Red Deer (4525 47A Ave), and is an annual friendraising community event that organizers say creates a high quality, fun – and FREE – summer afternoon on the holiday Monday in August.

A growing tradition, officials say the Hootenanny brings together live music from established and emerging Canadian musicians, a haberdashery featuring local artists & makers, food trucks, art making in the studio, gallery tours, a merch stamping station, and Lil’ Buckaroos Hollow – a dedicated children’s (especially inner) activity zone.

Rain or shine, the Hootenanny invites everyone to celebrate our local culture and shared heritage together.
