Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Red Deer and area

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Red Deer and area.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, severe weather is possible later today.

Officials say thunderstorms will develop north and northeast of Calgary this afternoon and track east toward the Saskatchewan border.

It’s important to note that a few of these thunderstorms are likely to become severe, producing large hail and damaging winds. There is also the risk of a tornado.
