Weekend power outages in Red Deer affected nearly 4,000 customers
A pair of major power outages affected nearly 4,000 customers in Red Deer over the weekend.
In a statement from the City of Red Deer, they explained that at 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, a breaker at one of their substations opened, which caused a large outage that affected 1,207 customers.
These outages were in the downtown, Parkvale, Mountview, and Morrisroe neighbourhoods.
“We were able to isolate the damaged section of the power line and reclose the breaker, restoring service to approximately two-thirds of the affected customers in each area. Power was fully restored to the remaining customers by 5:30 a.m. on Sunday,” they wrote in the statement.
