The outages took place in Glendale, Golden West, Highland Green Estates, Oriole Park West, East Burnt Lake, Edgar Industrial Park, Highland Green, and Normandeau.

Power to these customers was fully restored by 11:10 p.m. on Sunday.

“These outages were caused by the very strong winds that began around 9:55 p.m. We responded to multiple locations where trees had either blown into power lines or broken and fallen onto them, creating high-voltage faults,” they added.

“Sometimes there is foreign debris that can blow into the lines as well, causing a power fault. These faults generate extremely high temperatures that can melt power line conductors. They also produce a very loud noise. At one location, a jumper wire at the top of a power pole burned through as a result of the fault.”
