New medical clinic welcomes lead doctor in downtown Red Deer

Another medical clinic is now open to new patients in downtown Red Deer.

Viva Medical Clinic, led by Dr. Rashida Perveen, is located at the Mediport Centre (#210 and #206, 4406 50 Avenue).

“It is a privilege to join the Red Deer health care community,” says Dr. Perveen.

“My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care while building lasting relationships with patients and families. I look forward to helping improve access to high-quality primary care throughout central Alberta.”

Dr. Perveen is internationally trained and has more than 30 years of medical experience in Canada, Australia, the U.K, and Pakistan.

She holds MBBS, CCFP (Canada), FRACGP (Australia) and MRCGP (UK) qualifications, and her clinical interests include preventive medicine, women’s health, children’s health, chronic disease management, mental health, senior care and healthy aging.

Perveen says her approach emphasizes evidence-based medicine, continuity of care, shared decision-making and long-term relationships with patients and families.

Viva’s website also indicates they are in the process of attracting new doctors to join the clinic.

According to the Red Deer Primary Care Network, there are at least 10 clinics — most with multiple physicians — in Red Deer/Gasoline Alley currently accepting new patients.
