Lacombe city council has approved an amended 2026–2029 strategic plan.

The city says the plan identifies five strategic priorities and 47 actions designed to support responsible growth, community well-being, economic prosperity, community engagement, and regional collaboration.

The plan was formed through collaboration between council, administration, and previous community input and planning work.

“This strategic plan reflects council’s commitment to building a community that is prepared for the future while remaining responsive to the needs of residents today,” said Mayor Thalia Hibbs. “The plan focuses our efforts on the areas where we can have the greatest impact and provides a clear direction for the decisions we make over the next four years.”

The five strategic priorities include:

  • Responsible growth and infrastructure readiness
  • Community safety, health and well-being
  • Economic prosperity and affordability
  • Communication, trust and civic engagement
  • Shared service delivery through regional partnerships

The plan also includes a strategic reserve containing initiatives that support council’s vision but are not current priorities within this strategic plan term. These actions were identified as valuable to the community and were considered during the planning process; however, they were not advanced due to factors such as timing, capacity, resources, or competing priorities.
