Man accused of walking near Sundre school with gun sentenced, trial date set for other charges
A Mountain View County man accused of walking near a school in Sundre with a loaded shotgun last year, has now been sentenced following a trial in Didsbury Court of Justice.
Jason Kelly Burns, 34, was sentenced on July 8, 2026, to 15 days in jail, as well as 12 months of probation after his release, for a charge of threats causing bodily harm/death.
Meanwhile, a date has been set for trial in Calgary Court of Justice from Oct. 21-23, 2026, where he’ll face six other charges related to the same incident.
These charges include possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and trafficking a controlled substance.
