Rainfall warning issued for Red Deer area
Effective Saturday afternoon, a rainfall warning (yellow) is in place for Red Deer and area.
Heavy rain, with total amounts between 50-100 mm, is anticipated.
Rain will begin Sunday morning and continue into Monday before diminishing in the evening, and end by Tuesday morning, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
“Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #ABStorm,” ECCC says in its weather advisory.
