Special unit finds no explosive during investigation at City’s Civic Yards

UPDATE: RCMP in Red Deer advise they have cleared the scene of an investigation in the area of Riverside Drive and 77 Street.

The public may resume travel in this area, and there is no risk to the public.

RCMP told rdnewsNOW Monday afternoon that the incident originated with a 911 call around 9 a.m. about a suspicious package in a trailer at the City’s Civic Yards. The City itself has clarified that the trailer was a piece of city infrastructure.

In the interest of caution, RCMP called in the Explosives Disposal Unit, which determined there was no explosive.
