Two-and-a-half year sentence for Olds man convicted of child porn offences

A charge of make/print/publish child sexual abuse and exploitation material between the dates of April 8, 2025, and April 16, 2025, was also withdrawn on Feb. 9, 2026.

It was on June 3, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., when Olds RCMP, with the assistance of the Alberta RCMP Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE), arrested an Olds resident for alleged child pornography offences.

With the assistance of ICE, Olds RCMP launched an investigation in late May 2025. On June 3, 2025, Olds RCMP and ICE executed a search warrant at an Olds residence. As a result, Charles Landon was arrested and charged with the following:

Child Pornography – Transmits, makes available, distributes or sells

Child Pornography – Possession

Child Pornography – Accessing

Child Pornography – Print/publish/makes

Mounties acknowledged Landon was released on a release order with an extensive list of conditions after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

Sgt. Jamie Day, Detachment Commander of Olds RCMP, stated, “Olds RCMP remains fully committed in building safer communities by working in partnership with our community, as well as through investigative and enforcement efforts to achieve this goal. Olds RCMP would like to thank ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit for their assistance during this investigation.”
