A Bashaw resident is facing multiple charges following an investigation into a stolen vehicle that resulted in the seizure of multiple suspected drugs and weapons in Lloydminster.

Police say on April 21, Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Unit identified a stolen vehicle parked while they were on proactive patrols.

After the police engaged, two men allegedly fled on foot but were caught after a brief chase.

RCMP searched incidentally to arrest and seized the stolen vehicle and suspected methamphetamine.

They also searched the stolen vehicle, where they seized more illicit drugs, including more suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, suspected morphine, unstamped cigarettes, Canadian currency, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Many weapons were also seized, including a billy club, a machete, and numerous knives.

As a result, a 37-year-old man from Bashaw is facing multiple charges, including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and obstructing a peace officer.

A 41-year-old man from Meadow Lake, Sask., is also facing the same charges in addition to two counts of obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with a probation order.

They are both set to appear next in the Saskatchewan Provincial Court on April 27, in Lloydminster.
