Olds RCMP make arrest in stolen property investigation

Olds RCMP have charged a man from Mountain View County after an investigation into stolen property.

Police say it was April 16 when they executed a search warrant at a home in the county; this after obtaining new information about an ongoing investigation.

During the search, they seized:

  • Untaxed tobacco – 38 cartons and 9 packs (total value of $6,971.56)
  • Canadian currency totalling $51,680
  • Two unregistered firearms
  • Stolen vehicles and vehicle parts, valued between $123,800 and $234,000
  • Vehicle documents for a stolen vehicle
  • Stolen British Columbia licence plate
  • 22 rounds of ammunition
  • Money counter
  • Fraudulent VIN and manufacturer labels
  • Registration and insurance for a cloned VIN associated to a Ford F-450

A 63-year-old man is charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession contrary to order
  • Fail to comply with undertaking
  • Possession for the purpose of selling tobacco products (Excise Act)
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco products (Excise Act)

“This investigation reflects the strong collaboration between Olds RCMP and our specialized units in targeting property crime and related criminal activity,” says S/Sgt. Jamie Day, detachment commander.

“The results demonstrate our ongoing commitment to proactive enforcement and keeping our communities safe.”
