Red Deer native Brock England and Rebels captain Beckett Hamilton have been named to the pre-tournament camp roster ahead of the 2026 U18 Men’s World Championship.

They’re among nine players from the Western Hockey League invited to the camp, where 23 players will compete for a roster spot.

Hamilton was the Rebels’ leading scorer this season, notching 62 points in 67 games, and a berth to the WHL playoffs.

He also represented Team East at the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft and competed in front of NHL scouts ahead of the draft this summer. Hamilton was ranked 75th among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings.

If he makes the roster, this will be the first time he’ll represent Canada on the world stage.

Meantime, England, who suited up for the Seattle Thunderbirds as a rookie this season, notched 51 points in 64 games.

He also helped Canada Red win gold at the 2025 U17 World Hockey Challenge.

England was selected by Seattle 11th overall in the first round of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. He is expected to be a top prospect in the 2027 NHL Draft.

Last week, Hockey Canada also named Rebels’ athletic therapist Terence Robertson as a member of Team Canada’s staff for the tournament.

Representing Canada for Robertson has become a regular occurrence over recent years, winning gold at the 2025 U18 Men’s World Championship. Most recently, he served as an athletic therapist for Team Canada at the U20 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship last January.

The tournament will then commence on April 22, with Canada taking on Slovakia, Latvia, Norway and Finland in the preliminary round before the medal games on May 2.
