The Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre (CACAC) has welcomed a new facility dog.

The new Dogs with Wings facility dog, Rue, has been training with his new handler, RCMP Cst. Heather Parenteau and began its new role at the CACAC on June 16.

Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society, a charitable organization, will now have three dogs working within the CACAC facility in Red Deer.

“Our partnership with Dogs With Wings Assistance Dog Society is such an instrumental piece of the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, and our facility dogs truly make our services exceptional for our clients,” said Cassandra Galenzoski, Chief Operating Officer for the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, in a media release. “We are so fortunate to have a new addition of DWW Facility Dog Rue to join our current team of DWW Quinn and DWW Carter.”

Royal Lepage Real Estate Corp in Red Deer provided the funding for the new facility dog and also helped the CACAC acquire Dogs with Wings facility dog Quinn, five years ago.

“This addition of DWW Facility Dog Rue could not have been made possible without our longstanding support from the Royal Lepage office here in Red Deer, who raised the necessary funds for this facility dog in order to further support children and youth in Central Alberta. We hope they know the immeasurable impact their donation has made on so many kids for years to come,” said Cassandra Galenzoski, Chief Operational Officer for the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre.

Dogs With Wings facility dogs will provide support to kids and families in a variety of settings such as child advocacy centres, hospitals, court rooms, police stations/victim services, and schools.

“It is an honor to make such an impact on the lives of children in central Alberta. Thank you to our Royal Lepage Network realtors who make this possible & to the community for supporting our charity events,” said Keri Jensen, Royal Lepage Realty.
