One person is facing charges after gunfire in West Park early in the morning on May 26.

Just after 1 a.m., RCMP received reports of gunfire, and responded to an apartment building at 4250 54 Avenue.

Alberta RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says RCMP arrived to find two people injured — one with a gunshot wound to an undisclosed location, and the other with a laceration on his head.

Both were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Savinkoff adds they were both very well known to each other.

The man with the head injury, who is 62, was identified as Victor James Morrick of Red Deer. He’s been charged with seven counts, including intimidation, careless use of a weapon, aggravated assault, obstruction and three other weapons charges.

He’s been remanded and will appear in court on May 29 in Red Deer.

The victim is a 43-year-old man, RCMP confirm.

The incident is said to have occurred following a disagreement.
