Central Alberta Emergency Women’s Shelter and CUPE sign new Memorandum of Agreement
A new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been signed between the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter (CAWES) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) to improve the working relationship between the two entities.
In negotiations, CUPE Local 417 represented the 35 union members of unit 417-09 who work with CAWES.
The new MOA improves scheduling, introduces a nigh shift premium and overtime rates for members attending mandatory meetings during scheduled days off.
The agreement has a two-year term with a flat rate increase to all classifications and steps for each year. It also includes a commitment from CAWES to discuss, research and consider a defined benefits pension plan.
