Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) will rally at Extendicare Michener Hill (12 Michener Boulevard), an assisted living facility, to demand a reversal of what they say are recent cuts to staffing levels.
On May 5, members will rally from 2-3:30 p.m. outside the building to communicate their concerns about the new staffing levels at the facility.
“AUPE members have grave concerns about the new staffing levels. These cuts are putting residents and workers at risk,” says AUPE Vice-President Darren Graham.
He adds that many of the residents have complex physical and mental health care needs, including dementia, and front-line workers are concerned the cuts will reduce the level of care residents receive.
