Red Deer Hospice to hold annual butterfly release

Apr 21, 2025 | 1:22 PM

The Red Deer Hospice will soon hold its annual butterfly release, with participants taking part to remember a loved one, celebrate a milestone, or to give someone else hope.

Funds raised support end-of-life care in central Alberta.

The release goes June 21, with butterflies being sold starting April 30.

”This year, we are excited to offer an enhanced experience to our Butterfly Campaign. For those who pre-order butterflies for curbside pick-up on June 21, we invite you to join our Bereavement Support Team across the street in our serene Memorial Garden,” the organization says in a release.

”There you’ll have the opportunity to release your butterfly in a peaceful and reflective setting, take part in guided grief walks, and engage in family friendly memorial activities designed to honour and celebrate the memories of your loved ones. Whether you release your butterfly privately or in our garden, your participation supports end-of-life care and bereavement services in our community.”
